چکیده
A recent paper by Hartle [1] proposes a definition of “spacetime information” — the information available about a quantum system’s boundary conditions in the various sets of decohering histories it may display — and investigates its properties. We note here that the analysis of Ref. [1] contains errors which invalidate several of the conclusions. In particular, the proof that the proposed definition agrees with the standard definition for ordinary quantum mechanics is invalid, the evaluations of the spacetime information for timeneutral generalized quantum theories and for generalized quantum theories with non-unitary evolution are incorrect, and the argument that spacetime information is conserved on spacelike surfaces in these last theories is erroneous. We show however that the proposed definition does, in fact, agree with the standard definition for ordinary quantum mechanics. Hartle’s definition relies on choosing, case by case, a class of fine-grained consistent sets of histories. We supply a general definition of the relevant class of sets that agrees ∗E-mail: [email protected]

Spacetimes admitting quasi-conformal curvature tensor
The object of the present paper is to study spacetimes admitting quasi-conformal curvature tensor. At first we prove that a quasi-conformally flat spacetime is Einstein and hence it is of constant curvature and the energy momentum tensor of such a spacetime satisfying Einstein's field equation with cosmological constant is covariant constant. Next, we prove that if the perfect flui...

In this study time-dependent and spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein field equations in an anisotropic background with a purely radial tension are presented. There exist three classes of solutions,1) An open spacetime with a wormhole at its center. 2) A conical spacetime. 3) A closed spacetime. These inhomogeneous solutions are reduced to FRW spacetimes in matter-dominated era, as...

In usual quantum theory, the information available about a quantum system is defined in terms of the density matrix describing it on a spacelike surface. This definition must be generalized for extensions of quantum theory which neither require, nor always permit, a notion of state on a spacelike surface. In particular, it must be generalized for the generalized quantum theories appropriate whe...

In this paper, we consider a massive charged scalar field coupled to a uniform electric field background in a 3 dimensional de Sitter spacetime. We consider the value of the dimensionless coupling constant of the scalar field to the scalar curvature of a 3 dimensional de Sitter spacetime equal to 1/8. We compute the expectation value of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor in the in-vacuum s...
متن کاملA study of a Stefan problem governed with space–time fractional derivatives
This paper presents a fractional mathematical model of a one-dimensional phase-change problem (Stefan problem) with a variable latent-heat (a power function of position). This model includes space–time fractional derivatives in the Caputo sense and time-dependent surface-heat flux. An approximate solution of this model is obtained by using the optimal homotopy asymptotic method to find the solu...
متن کاملQuantum Information and Spacetime Structure
In modern quantum information theory one deals with an idealized situation when the spacetime dependence of quantum phenomena is neglected. However the transmission and processing of (quantum) information is a physical process in spacetime. Therefore such basic notions in quantum information theory as qubit, channel, composite systems and entangled states should be formulated in space and time....
